On March 25, 1917, seven young Jewish women founded a sorority at Cornell University. Founding Sigma Delta Tau was a way to meet their own social and housing needs after facing discrimination due to their Jewish identities. More meaningfully, though, the women established a sorority based on respecting the individuality of its members. Today, the strength of individuality remains a core value, and inclusion is celebrated by OUR sisters across the country.
